Poets` Corner

  • 31 - Broken Zipper

    Grade: 4a | First Ascent: -1977
    Rating: 0

Climb the big right-facing corner past a tree to the top. Rather loose in places. Thread belay on top.

  • 32 - Cross of Lorraine

    Grade: 4c | First Ascent: -1975
    Rating: 2

A surprising climb, crossing rock that is much more solid than it appears from below. Start immediately left of a left-facing, hanging groove. Follow the groove for a short way until it is possible to stand on a flake on the left. Continue up the slab until about one metre below an obvious hanging block it is possible to traverse right to twin bolts (Poetry in Motion). Step up and right past a low bolt, then go up to twin bolts below an overlap. Either finish directly at this point, or traverse right to a tree (on Icicle), then go up to the top. Belay well back round a bush.

  • 33 - Poetry in Motion

    Grade: F5+ | First Ascent: -1991
    Rating: 0

Climb the wall one metre right, starting behind a group of hazel bushes and continue past three bolts to the left side of an obvious overlap at half-height. Continue, avoiding the overlap itself to a twin bolt belay, then move up right and finish as for Cross of Lorraine. [E1 5b]

  • 34 - Poetry in Commotion

    Grade: F7a | First Ascent: -1986
    Rating: 1

Start three metres to the right and climb up and left past three bolts, then finish up Poetry in Motion. [E4 6b]

  • 34a - Direct Finish

    Grade: F7a | First Ascent:
    Rating:

Continue directly to the twin bolts below an overlap on Cross of Lorraine. [ 6b]

  • 35 - Icicle

    Grade: 5b | First Ascent: -1975
    Rating: 0

Climb the obvious groove directly behind a large tree, passing a tree three metres below the top. Better than it looks. Belay well back round a bush.

  • 36 - Pits Stop

    Grade: | First Ascent: -1986
    Rating: 0

Start about 35 metres farther right, just left of the second yew and climb pleasantly up a wide, open groove. Exit left past a holly at the top.
